Lady Manners School is an English secondary school located in Bakewell,
a market town in the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire.
It was founded on 20 May 1636 by Grace, Lady Manners, who lived at Haddon Hall, the current home of Lord and Lady Edward Manners, and has also in the past been known as the Bakewell Grammar School. It is now a member of the Peak 11 group of secondary schools in the Peak District.

My name is Richard Hildebrand. I am currently employed at Lady Manners School as the IT Network Manager. I also attended the school as a pupil back in the early 1970s.
This website was created as a private project mainly using material found in the school’s archives and used by kind permission of the school.
The initial interest in creating the site was triggered whilst looking through a box of old year photos dating way back. There I found my own mum in the middle of one of them, taken in 1934. I then set about scanning them all which was a painstakingly long task. Since creating the original website thousands of ex pupils have enjoyed viewing its content and finding themselves on the old school photographs. This is a brand new version of the website created in February of 2016. I hope you all enjoy looking through it and manage to find yourself somewhere. Plenty of new content has been added including photographs of school shows across the years.
